We are delighted that Netball North Harbour is to receive $1,650,000 towards our exterior refurbishment. All going to plan construction will start late 2025.
Richard Hills, North Shore Councillor, posted on social media the following:
Proud to support significant investment into organisations such as Northcote & Birkenhead Tigers Rugby League and Netball North Harbour, through our Sport and Recreation Facilities Investment Fund.
As Chair of the Planning, Environment and Parks Committee I love when we invest in our regional sports facilities. Last week at our committee we approved $13.6m to support the build, consenting or upgrade of facilities for 18 different organisations across Tāmaki Makaurau.
Locally that included $500,000 towards their new Northcote Birkenhead Tigers club facility, $1.65 million to Netball North Harbour towards their significant building upgrade, $500,000 to North Shore Rowing and $600,000 for the Tennis Charitable Trust towards design and consent for the Albany Sports Park, no doubt they’ll be back for funds when the head to construction phases.
We also supported $40,000 a year for three years to Netball North Harbour through our operational support grants. ($120,000)
Aucklanders from all walks of life love to stay active through sport. From community sport, right up to winning gold medals at the Olympics, sport and recreation is something we can all get involved in.
We’ve allocated funding to a range of organisations across the region so they can invest in and enhance their facilities to meet the sport and recreation needs of Aucklanders now and into the future.
We received a large number of applications, which is great, but does make it difficult prioritising so many great projects into the budget envelope. I’d like to thank each and every applicant for the time and effort they put into applying for this year’s grant.
The council received 55 applications for funding, The applications requested a total of $40.7 million, three times the funds available.
Thanks to all the sports and recreation organisations, staff, volunteers and members who are doing amazing work in our communities.
Special thanks to all Aucklanders who contribute to this investment through paying your rates, rents and fees and charges. Click below to see more.
