In 2026 we are introducing Year 5 & Year 6 7 aside netball to the Warkworth competition.  Please read below more information for this age group.

Year 1 to Year 4 play the modified futureFERNS game.  

Parent Help is imperative in these games.

Year 1 & 2

  • This is a 12 week programme and not a competitiion. Goals are not counted.

  • There are no umpires. The game is controlled by the coaches using their voices.

  • Year 1 & 2 play 4 v 4 across one third of a full sized netball court with modified hoops and smaller balls. 

  • Year 1 & 2 have a 15 minute skill session followed by 2 x 8 minute halves. 

  • Round times  Tuesday afternoons at 4.00 pm and 4.50 pm ... depending on numbers entered.

  • Recommended maximum team size is 6 players - this allows for subs and absences.

  • If teams are short of players, they can borrow from their opposition.

  • Cost tba

Year 3 & 4

  • This is a 12  week programme and is not a competition. Goals are not counted.

  • There are no umpires. The game is controlled by the coaches using their voices.

  • Year 3 play 5 v 5 - 1 Centre, 2 x Defenders and 2 x Attackers. They play on two thirds of a full sized netball court with modified hoops and Size 4 balls.

  • Year 4 for the first 6 weeks will play the 5a-side game as above.  For the 2nd half of the programme the Year 4 teams will play 6a-side game consisting of 2 x Centres, 2 x Defenders and 2 x Attackers.  6a-side play on the full size court with modified hoops and Size 4 balls.

  • Year 3 & 4 play 10 minute quarters.

  • Year 3 & 4 skill session is their warm up for the game. 

  • Round times on a Tuesday are possibly 4.00 and 4.50pm (confirmed once team registrations are closed).

  • Recommended team size is 7 players.

  • If teams are short, they can borrow from their opposition

Year 5 & 6

  • Year 5 & 6 will play the 7a-side game in 2026.  Normal netball rules apply.

  • Year 5 will play with formal rotations (players move around the court).  Year 6 do not.  Final formats will be determined based on team entries.

  • Year 5 are on 2.6m high hoops and Year 6 on 3.05m high hoops.

  • Umpires will be required for each team.  

  • Games will be 10 minute quarters.  

  • Round times on a Tuesday are possibly 5.40 and 6.30 pm.  Dependent on numbers.

  • Recommended team size is no more than 10 players.

  • Year 5 & 6 will play a small competition.  

  • Cost per team tba
